Kannawidan Festival

Kannawidan, it is a celebration that lasts from the last week of January up to the first week of February. Included in the course of events is the commemoration of the foundation day of the province. Ilocos Sur is a beautiful province located in the northern part of Luzon. It is a province rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. To show and share their treasures to the whole world, the locals conceived a festival that highlights these cultural traditions and they called it the “Kannadiwan Festival”.

The Kannawidan Festival is usually a very big festival held in Vigan. Kannawidan Festival always has the best events in Vigan, In Tamag Vigan City they hold a very big party in the night with a lot of famous people from around the Philippines acting as guest, host, and sometimes entertainers that entertain people over night and every day until the last day of the festival there always an event held everyday and every event is always fun and to make the people and visitors happy and to show them the beauty of Vigan and its Festivals.They displayed their talents as well as their indigenous costumes. Partuat ken Patanor Trade Fair showcased the products of the province such as longanisa, bagnet, garlic, bibingka, tinubong and many other foods including handicrafts.

This is such a great and important occasion for all the Ilocanos. Because this is the time to reminisce our past, our culture and to treasure it for this is our identity. This is who we are, Ilocanos. I humbly invite all of you to come and see the Vigan and all its festivals it celebrates.

Just do it!!

To some people, change might be impossible. For them, change is a big joke. But I still believe that change can still be made. You want to change the world you are living? Start it first by yourself. You need to be hardworking and patient in order to achieve the change that you desire. If you really want a change, do it not tomorrow or the other day, do it NOW!


Everyone has the capability to change one's self. If you want something, do something. Look for every opportunities and grab it. Work hard for it. Use your knowledge not you fists to change the world. You can achieve these changes and live a happy life in the new world that you're going to make. A change where you can live peacefully and happily. A change of this cruel and unfair world for the better.

Change is not always necessary. If you can change the world the way you are now, that's better. Because changing is not always the solution if you want something to also change. We can lead every citizen and make a better world together for us to live among ourselves. It is your decision if you want to change yourself first in order for you to change this world. But for me, I choose to change myself first, rather fix myself first. From negative to a positive person.

Vigan Fiesta

Festivals were one of the happiest and liveliest event or occasion you have to experience. Different people,  different cultures and traditions. Stalls everywhere, children playing together, entertaining shows, contests and activities, and sometimes fire works display. We Ilocanos have very rich cultures and traditions that we can be proud of. Cultures and traditions we must preserve and protect for the next generations.

The Vigan City Fiesta is held every January 25. It is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle. St. Paul is Vigan City’s patron saint. Before his conversion, St. Paul was known as Saul, a zealous persecutor of Christians. After he was touched by a personal encounter with Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus, his name was changed to Paul and he endured a lot of hardships and danger to spread the word of God to far places. We also celebrate the longganisa festival here in ViganCity. The Longganisa Festival is typically celebrated in Vigan City on 22 January each year, just a few days before the Vigan City Fiesta on 25 January. We also have the kannawidan festival. This year is the 196th anniversary of the province of Ilocos Sur. But the main attraction of this anniversary Is the Kannawidan Festival. It was celebrated on the last week of January to the first week of February. All Ilocanos joined together to manage the whole festival held at Tamag Grounds,  Vigan City. Through this, we can promote the tourism industry of Ilocos Sur. Products, cultures and traditions of different municipalities. There are also various events, contests and activities you can enjoy with your loved ones.

 We Ilocanos are rich not only in cultures and traditions but also traits and personalities. We need to be united in order to preserve, protect and promote the cultures and traditions of Ilocos Sur through Kannawidan Festival.

A day full of lightings and fireworks everywhere, noises from horns and others. Laughters and smiles of the people around. And of course food to eat in Media Noche. A day full of happiness, joy and prosperity. The start of another 12 months of new memories and maybe to start a new life, new lifestyle, different chances to grab, and also changes we want to make. It is also the day to celebrate and thank God for another year. He gave us another year for some changes, changes for the better.

 We all have a New Year's Resolution. We might have different New Year's Resolution, but some of us also have the same. It might be a change, a change to yourself or a change in your way of living. Things we want to achieve. Dreams we want to pursue. Plans we want to happen, or wishes and promises we want to fulfill.

My New Year's Resolution would be a change of my perspective in life. Before, I am so negative in life. Thinking I can't do anything, easy to give up, pretending to be okay, faking smiles and laughs, hiding what I really feel and sometimes down. Thanks to my friends and family for making me happy.
